BCU Signed the Agreement on Credit Transfer with the University of Hull

On the morning of November 29, the delegation of the University of Hull, including Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Alan Speight, Deputy Director of Academic Cooperation Office Professor Lynne Braham and Director of Chinese Office Ms Laura Liu, visited our university. The Signing Ceremony of Beijing City University - University of Hull Credit Transfer Project was joined by the delegation, Vice-President of Beijing City University Professor Hu Liqin and President Assistant Ms Ye Yingfang, Director of School of Foreign Studies Professor Li Jiayi, Deputy Director Ms Zhang Xinyuan, Deputy Director of International Affairs Office Ms Li Xuemeng and Program Leader of Accounting major (IELTS International Program).

At the beginning of the ceremony, Vice President Hu on behalf of Beijing City University (BCU) warmly greeted the University of Hull delegation. Then she introduced characteristics of our university and congratulated for developing the credit transfer project of Accounting major between two universities, hoping that two sides will make a contribution to cultivating internationalized accounting professionals. Pro-Vice-Chancellor Alan Speight made an introduction of the University of Hull and said that he was looking forward to further cooperation in the next year which is the 90thanniversary of the university. After that, two universities signed the agreement.

After the ceremony, the delegation met with the representatives of class 2016 and 2017 from Accounting major (IELTS International Program). Professor Braham introduced programs to students and Professor Alan welcomed students who would go to the University of Hull and expressed his best wishes. Professor Hu who had high expectation of the students from Accounting major (IELTS International Program) encouraged them to plan for overseas studying in advance and to make accomplishments. In the meeting, the delegation exchanged ideas with students and answered questions from them.

The Agreement aims to cultivate internationalized accounting professionals. The University of Hull is the 14th-oldest university in England. Its business school is accredited by AMBA and AACSB and cooperates with ACCA. According to the Agreement, students of Accounting major (IELTS International Program) study at BCU in the first two/three years and attended fundamental and professional courses designed by BCU and the Hull University. After fulfilling the requirement of English and courses, they can choose to study in the UK in the third and fourth year or only the fourth year. The credits are acknowledged by two universities. If students meet the graduation requirement of both universities, they will obtain bachelor’s degree from the two universities. When studying at Hull University, students can be granted partial exemptions in ACCA. If students meet the language requirement, they can continue to pursue the master’s degree in the University of Hull.
