Japanese Youth Delegation Visited Beijing City University

On December 21st, 2019, Japanese Youth Delegation visited the Hangtiancheng Campus of Beijing City University under the lead of Mr Okazaki Yutaka, the Chairman of the Japan-China Friendship Association. Vice President of BCU Mr Wen Zongyong warmly welcomed the youth delegation, which was accompanied by Mr Gao Shuangjin, the Vice President of Beijing People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries.

Vice President Wen pointed out in his speech that Japan and China are neighbouring countries, separated only by a strip of water with a long history of traditional friendship. This year is the China-Japan Youth Exchange Promotion Year, coinciding with the 35th anniversary of BCU. The visit of the Youth delegation from 74 Japanese universities brings wonderfulness to the year 2019 and brings warmth to the freezing winter. President Wen introduced to the delegation the specific characteristics of education and achievements of our university, especially the communications and exchanges of the Animation Class (Japanese International Specific Class) of BCU with Japanese universities. He also hoped that this activity could further expand the exchanges and cooperation with Japanese universities, making more contribution for Japan-China Friendship. Vice President Wen, on behalf of our university, sent the Japanese delegation one calligraphy written by Professor Hu Bin, a famous calligrapher and the Dean of the Calligraphy school of BCU.

Mr Yutaka, Chairman of the Japan-China Friendship Association, expressed his great thanks for the warm welcome and careful preparation of BCU, and he would take this opportunity to further boost the communications and exchanges between Chinese-Japanese youth. Japanese delegation visited the practical training rooms at the Hangtiancheng Campus and communicate with faculties and students from subjects of Animation (Japanese international special class), English, Chinese Medicine, Chinese Painting, Arts and Crafts on Chinese Tradition, in terms of Animation, chess, ball, Chinese medicine production, calligraphy, Chinese painting, knots, etc.

In 2018, the Chinese and Japanese government designated 2019 as the China-Japan Youth Exchange Promotion Year and agreed to boost the number of people involved in youth exchanges to 30,000 in the next five years. This activity is an important measure to implement this consensus, which is held by the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries commissioned by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It aims to boost mutual understanding and friendship between Chinese and Japanese college students and cultivate new friendship of Sino-Japanese friendship. During their visit to China, the Japanese delegation will be arranged to meet leaders and receive a government interview. College exchange activities will be arranged in BCU.
