Beijing City University£¨BCU£©is a comprehensive university officially approved by Chinese Ministry of Education. BCU has achieved the sanction of granting degrees from Chinese Ministry of Education for graduate, undergraduate, specialties of higher vocational education qualifications and enrollment of foreign students.

BCU, formerly known as Haidian University, was founded in 1984. Since then, the university has adhered to the Party¡¯s and State¡¯s educational policy and the guiding principle for the University. Guided by the market demand, BCU has made great achievements in exploring the reforms of running system and educational methodology of higher education.

 BCU covers a total area of 1,100 acres and has three campuses. They are main campus, the north campus and the Oriental University City. What¡¯s more, a new campus is being built now. The university library has a collection of over 1.5 million books. BCU currently boasts more than 70 on-campus laboratories and off-campus training workshops. It houses complete infrastructure of auditoriums, stadiums, student halls with quick and easy access to campus networks.

BCU has formed a multi-level, multi-disciplinary, multiple forms of professional system and running pattern to cultivate the applied talents. The university has over 100 graduate, undergraduate and three-year programs and specialties. Its bachelor degrees cover a wide range of study areas including Science, Engineering, Arts, Law, Economics and Administration. There are more than 20,000 full-time studnets.

BCU has 1,300 full-time teaching and administrative staffs and another 1,000 invited part-time ones. Over 50% of our full-time teachers have senior professional titles, PHD or Master degrees, including dozens of national or provincial experts and outstanding teachers, youth core instructors and foreign teachers. Many teachers have many years of overseas study or work experience. The invited part-time teachers are regularly engaged and most are excellent teachers from nearby colleges, universities or scientific research institutes and practical experts of production, construction and management. The variety of our faculty resources brings fresh strength and quality security to our daily teaching activities. During recent years, our teachers have published more than 1,200 theses, over 150 monographs and teaching materials. The theses and scientific research achievements are awarded national, provincial and ministerial prizes. To meet the needs of the society, BCU develops services of adult education, vocational training, management consultation and technology transfer. It also continues to make new progress in social services.

The University has attached great importance to international exchange programs and actively expanded into new areas of international exchanges. BCU has been committed to alliances with more than 30 colleges and universities in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, France, Germany, Spain, Hungary, Japan, South Korea and from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. In recent years, the university has organized different groups for visits to the renowned universities in Europe, America, Asia and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. This has provided a good platform for foreign exchange.
